Not sure if you have seen but there is another similar thread at the moment - https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...guilty-165012/ that may be of interest.

Haven't moved interstate, but have moved from UK to Oz with just DH who is also English (and now have a DD and another on the way).

With regards to keeping in touch - get your nearest and dearest familiar with programs such as Skype for video chat, MSN Messenger, Gmail chat, Facebook etc before you move, I find these tools so valuable. I chat using a Gmail Chat to my parents, sister etc nearly every day - just whenever we see each other online have a quick chat. Video chat several times a week too (with the IL's we have to schedule a time but normally once a week too) - I put up lots and lots of photos and info on FB and that helps us stay in touch, and they do the same. It doesn't feel like they are far away to me at all. In almost four years I have been back once, but parents and IL's have been over a couple of times each and actually really like that as we do lots of fun 'holiday' type stuff, rather than the mundane we might do if saw each other more frequently.
